Youth Jiu-Jitsu
The 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu kids class curriculum is based on giving your kids the ability to walk around school with confidence, while gifting them the attributes of self- discipline, patience, and wellness. We focus on anti-bullying techniques and strive to prepare our youth to become leaders and productive members of their community. Jiu Jitsu for kids include many benefits such as increasing flexibility, muscle endurance, and development of problem-solving skills. Learning Jiu Jitsu promotes self-discipline while simultaneously increasing the use of problem solving skills and brain function.
No Gi Jiu-Jitsu
Planet Jiu Jitsu revolves around the concept of training without the use of the Kimono. Our belief is that this will bring our students a more realistic view of fighting and actual overall practicality of self-defense scenarios. Because we believe that you do not need the use of the Gi/Kimono to fully experience the essence of Jiu Jitsu, our philosophy branches off from the traditional and focuses on modern techniques that will mold you into a true martial artist.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was developed from Japanese Jiu Jitsu, the primary difference is that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on the principles that a smaller human can defend and subdue a larger attacker using leverage and technique. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu primarily focuses on Gi(kimono) and uses joint manipulation and choke holds to encourage an attacker/opponent to concede. Both Gi an Nogi styles are martial arts that take place on the ground. The main difference between Gi and Nogi is Gi uses grips and slower style vs Nogi uses Over/Under hooks and a faster style.

OUR COACHES
Andy Balmore Prudencio
Andy Balmore Prudencio started his Mixed Martial Arts path at the age of 16 in 2002. Being a fan of the early UFC, he persuade an MMA career for himself as soon as he turned 18. He spent all his days focusing on Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, boxing and Muay Thai which paid him dividends ending his professional Mixed Martial Arts career with a record of 8-1 and an undefeated amateur record as well. He stepped away from MMA to focus on supporting and being there for his wife and first born. Although he stepped away from MMA, he continued to train Jiu-Jitsu and really fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu when his training partner and mentor Casey Halstead introduced him to Eddie Bravo and the 10th Planet System. It was the freedom of expression and creativity that made him fall in love with Jiu-Jitsu again. From there he trained under Casey Halstead and helped coach the up and coming fighters. He then helped open up the first 10th Planet in Orange County , 10th Planet Costa Mesa which he later became a partner in. Andy has now been coaching Jiu-Jitsu and MMA for over 12 years and became Casey Halstead’s first Black Belt.
Andy is also the Event Coordinator and Stage Manager for the Eddie Bravo Invitational, in this role Andy gets to work closely with Eddie Bravo and Victor Davila as well as some of the greatest talent in Jiu Jitsu. As a coach, Andy is fully dedicated to his students by not only developing their Jiu Jitsu but mentoring them personally. He loves to watch people develop on the mats and watch it pour over off the mats. To Andy, coaching is not just about teaching a move, it’s about inspiring and being of service to others. He believes If he can help you live a more mindful, health conscious life then you will do the same for others..
Isaac Cordova
Isaac Cordova began his Jiu-Jitsu career in 2009, self-taught from Eddie Bravo's textbook "Mastering the Rubber Guard" along with his brother. Falling in love with the sport, he drilled and sparred at home for a year before stepping into a local MMA gym and receiving formal training. He competed twice as a 15-year-old before he fulfilled his goal of joining the military.
He served from 2013-2017 as a Reconnaissance Marine. Coach Isaac draws from these years of honing specialized skills and operating at an elite level to foster a sharp, effective, and creative training room. During his time in the military, Isaac would pop into a Jiu- Jitsu gym once a year or so, still in love with Jiu-Jitsu, knowing he would return to the sport soon.
He started with 10th Planet Orange County in 2017, after his service, and began instructing at 10th Planet Fullerton at the beginning of 2021. Coach Isaac is a consistent competitor winning the local WSOJJ cash prize tournament 5 times, is an EBI Qualifier winner, a veteran of Eddie Bravo's Combat Jiu-Jitsu tournament where strikes allowed, reached the round of 16 at two ADCC Trials, aspires to medal at the ADCC Championships, and received his black belt from Andy Balmore at the beginning of 2023.
As a coach, Isaac says, "I don't mind how good you are. I care how much better you get," focusing on progress as the goal. He seeks to keep a fun, energetic, and uplifting training environment where all are welcome.
Robert Kim
Brown Belt under 10th Planet Orange County, started his martial arts path with Kendo and Wrestling in high school. Then started training Jiu-Jitsu at 10th Planet Hawaiian Gardens in 2011 before he moved to 10th Planet Costa Mesa, and the rest was history.
As a smaller and nonathletic practitioner, Robert has developed what his team likes to call, “Little Man Jiu-Jitsu,” where he focuses on the small minute details to bring down bigger opponents, and to enhance any Jiu-Jitsu practitioner’s game. Due to his open mindedness, he enjoys experimenting with different movements to improve his techniques, and even develop some of his own.
Robert enjoys sharing his knowledge with the team and in his classes. He teaches with the purpose of making a difference in, at least, one person’s Jiu-Jitsu and or in life. For that reason, he tries to bring the best out in you.
Finally, Robert always structures his classes with these four pillars of thought:
- Control is key, where transitions lead to positions, and positions to transitions lead into submissions.
- Be creative, not every opponent is the same, not every body type is the same.
- Don’t give up on me, because I won’t give up on you, and finish to the end.
- Failure is an option, quitting is not.
Garret Tringale
Coach Garrett's Jiu Jitsu journey began in 2010 in San Francisco, where he started training at a gi school. After six years, he switched to 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo and received his Brown belt under the guidance of world-ranked competitors Alan Sanchez and Adam Sachnoff. Recently, he moved to Orange County to pursue an acting career while still continuing his training. As a coach, he values positional dominance and control leading to submission, with a focus on achieving the mount and back positions. For him, the key to Jiu Jitsu development is consistency and enjoyment.
